How to Measure Blood Pressure Correctly With Your YHE Blood Pressure Smartwatch

How to Measure Blood Pressure Correctly With Your YHE Blood Pressure Smartwatch

Getting a good blood pressure reading starts before you press Start.

How you sit, how you wear the watch, and where you hold your wrist can all affect your reading.

Follow these simple steps each time you measure.

1. Rest Before You Measure

Give your body time to settle before starting.

Avoid checking your blood pressure immediately after:

  • Exercise

  • Smoking

  • Drinking alcohol

  • Eating

  • Caffeine

  • Bathing

  • Strong emotional stress

Sit quietly and relax first.

For the BP Doctor Med, the user manual recommends resting for at least 15 minutes before measurement.

For the BP Doctor Fit / Ultra, avoid vigorous exercise, smoking, drinking and strong emotional changes for at least 30 minutes before measurement.

For easier comparison over time, try to measure at about the same time each day.

2. Wear the Watch on Your Bare Wrist

Do not measure over clothing.

Place the blood pressure smartwatch directly against your skin.

For BP Doctor Fit / Ultra, position the watch about two finger-widths from the base of your palm.

The inflatable cuff should sit flat against your wrist.

Make sure it is not:

  • Folded

  • Twisted

  • Tilted

  • Partly outside the wrist

  • Too loose

The cuff needs good contact with your wrist during measurement.

Check Your Wrist Size

Correct fit matters.

BP Doctor Fit / Ultra: approximately 14–22 cm wrists.

BP Doctor Med: approximately 14–20 cm wrists.

3. Make Sure the Watch Is Snug

For a blood pressure measurement, the watch should fit more snugly than it may during normal everyday wear.

It should sit securely against your wrist without a large gap.

If the watch is too loose, the cuff may not make good contact with your wrist.

If your readings vary widely or the watch gives an error, check the fit before measuring again.

4. Sit in the Correct Position

Sit comfortably in a chair.

Keep your body relaxed and upright.

For the best measurement position:

Keep your feet flat on the floor.

Do not cross your legs.

Support your elbow and forearm.

Relax your shoulders and hand.

Do not lean forward or tense your arm.

5. Keep the Watch at Heart Level

This is one of the most important steps.

Bring the wrist wearing the watch toward your chest so that the watch is approximately at the same height as your heart.

Do not let your wrist hang down near your lap.

Do not hold it high above your heart.

Why Does This Matter?

If your wrist is too low, the reading may be higher.

If your wrist is too high, the reading may be lower.

Keep it simple:

Wrist near your chest. Watch at heart level.

6. Relax Your Hand

Keep your wrist in a natural position.

Do not:

  • Bend your wrist up

  • Bend your wrist down

  • Clench your fist

  • Press with your fingers

  • Grip the inflatable cuff with your other hand

Let the watch and cuff do the work.

7. Stay Quiet and Still

Start the blood pressure measurement and relax.

While the cuff is inflating and deflating:

Do not talk.

Do not move.

Do not shake your arm.

Do not change your sitting position.

Even small movements can interfere with the measurement.

Wait until the watch finishes and displays your result.

8. Want to Measure Again? Wait First.

Blood pressure naturally changes from one measurement to another.

Do not immediately start another measurement.

Relax the cuff and stay calm.

For BP Doctor Fit / Ultra, wait at least 2–3 minutes.

For BP Doctor Med, wait at least 3 minutes before another measurement.

Then repeat the measurement using the same position.

If Your Reading Looks Unusual

Before assuming something is wrong with the watch, check these five things:

Is the watch snug enough?

Is the cuff flat against your wrist?

Is your wrist at heart level?

Are you sitting and relaxing?

Did you stay completely still and quiet?

Incorrect fit, wrist position, talking and movement are some of the most common reasons for inconsistent readings or measurement errors.

Remember These 5 Words

REST — FIT — LEVEL — RELAX — STILL

REST
Give your body time to settle.

FIT
Wear the blood pressure smartwatch snugly on your bare wrist.

LEVEL
Keep the watch at heart level.

RELAX
Relax your arm, wrist and hand.

STILL
Do not talk or move until the measurement is finished.

Using the same routine each time can help you get more consistent measurements and make your blood pressure records easier to compare over time.

Blood pressure can naturally change throughout the day. Readings should be considered together with your overall health information and should not be used alone to make medical decisions. If you are concerned about your blood pressure readings, speak with a qualified healthcare professional.
